Nature’s perfect first food
Maxi Immuno Plus (MIP) Colostrum is 100% pure and undiluted bioactive first milking colostrum, sourced from cows in the South Island of New Zealand.
Bovine Colostrum is the only form of colostrum that is not species specific. In other words, it can significantly benefit all mammals, including humans of course. Because calves are born without any immunity to airborne, disease-causing organisms, their mother’s Colostrum must contain many immune and health factors. As a result bovine Colostrum has 10 – 21 times the factors of human Colostrum, making it the richest source of Colostrum available. It is the only 100% natural source of vital growth and healing factors and cannot be laboratory reproduced.
The Powerful Components
Colostrum has been used for its many health benefits for thousands of years. These health benefits being attributable to the high levels of beneficial bioactive components that make up this “first milk” substance. In fact, MIP Colostrum contains over 90 different powerful bioactive components! Let’s take a look at some of the major components found within colostrum. Below is a breakdown of firstly, some of the major component categories followed by specific natural components within each category.
Immuno Regulating Components
These are natural components which assist in the regulation of immune responses that occur between macrophages and lymphocytes in the human body. Colostrum contains four very important types of immuno-regulating substances, including:
Thymosin: Colostrum includes both the alpha and the beta chains of Thymosin, which are crucial for maintaining a healthy immune system. It also helps to stimulate and regulate an unbalanced immune system.
Proline-rich Peptide (PRP): This is a type of protein which acts similarly to a hormone and works to regulate the thymus gland and regulate the immune system. Importantly, it helps to prevent the immune system from over-reacting to certain situations and increases the body’s nutrient absorption rates.
Cytokines: Cytokines are small proteins which signal the body to produce a special type of white blood cell and then tell these white blood cells exactly where they need to go to be most affective within the user’s body. These hormones essentially keep communication between immune cells active. No communication = No immunity.
Lymphokines: Lymphokines are also classified as proteins, but can vary in size. The primary function of these proteins is to inform cells near an area of injury about the injury, and then to signal these cells to transform into more useful cells that can assist with destroying the microorganism that is causing harm/injury to the body.
Gastrointestinal Protective Components
When food enters the body, it travels through the entire gastrointestinal tract – during this process, food is broken down into smaller particles, nutrients are absorbed by the body and waste products are then disposed of. MIP Colostrum helps improve the health and strengthen your gastrointestinal tract; thus leading to a better “first line of defense” and also assisting with the absorption of nutrients obtained through consumption.
Immunoglobulin (IgA, IgD, IgE, IgG, IgM): These are more commonly known as antibodies. Typically developed by the immune system of a mother over her lifetime – and through colostrum, these antibodies are passed down to her newborn. The primary function being to help this newborn protect and fight against harmful invaders such as bacteria, viruses and fungi.
Lactoperoxidase & Xanthine Oxidase: Both are a type of enzyme that can attach itself to the wall of harmful bacteria. After which the enzyme starts to degrade certain protein types and also helps to reduce the risk of the bacteria multiplying.
Lactoferrin: An iron binding protein with antiviral, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. It attaches itself to excess iron and removes it from the body safely. It has been shown to have a positive effect against chronic fatigue syndrome, Candida albicans, cancer, HIV, herpes and other infections.
Leukocytes: More commonly known simply as white blood cells, of which colostrum contains three specific types: polymorphonuclear cells, macrophages cells and neutrophils cells. White blood cells stimulate the production of interferon which has been shown to slow viral reproduction and they also inhibit the viruses’ penetration of the cellular wall.
Growth Factors: Growth factors are important substances in the human body as their primary purpose is to assist with the growth and reproduction of cells. Insulin-like growth factors (IGF-1 & IGF-2) are the most recognized, but are just part of a group of over 90 various proteins known as the “IGF Binding Protein Superfamily”.
Growth factors have a variety of functions such as the maintenance of the metabolic pathways where glucose is converted into glycogen, with glycogen being a primary energy resource for the body. Furthermore, growth factors utilize amino acids within the body to assist with the production of beneficial proteins.
Metabolic Factors: There are numerous metabolic factors that can be found in colostrum, which further benefit the digestive system and gastrointestinal tract by improving the metabolism of the body.
Insulin
A vital part of being healthy is to avoid high blood glucose levels, as this can lead to problems such as insulin resistance and a much higher risk of developing type 2-diabetes. Colostrum naturally contains insulin, which is responsible for the utilization of glucose (blood sugar) that is contained within the blood circulatory system.
Leptin
A protein found in the digestive system which is known to regulate the body’s appetite, thus making weight-loss more achievable. In addition to insulin and leptin, both being very important metabolic factors that contribute to energy and healthy weight management, colostrum also contains other metabolic factors such as enzyme inhibitors, mineral-binding proteins and cyclic adenosine monophosphate. Metabolic factors found in colostrum supplements also include “carrier” vitamins, such as vitamin B6 and vitamin B12, as well as fat-associated vitamins, such as vitamin K, vitamin E, vitamin D and vitamin A.
Quality Assurance
MIP Colostrum is made under internationally recognized HACCP Principles and Good Manufacturing Practices. Wherever possible NutriNZ sources active ingredients from New Zealand origin and raw ingredients are sourced from quality-controlled and regulated New Zealand suppliers. It is New Zealand laboratory quality tested. During storage and shipment, precautions are taken to ensure that product quality is maintained. Each package is given a batch number to enable traceback.
